The Powder River County Sheriff’s Office has an opening for a Deputy Sheriff. 
 
Starting salary will be $27.49 per hour. Powder River County is an equal opportunity employer. Powder River County offers health insurance that the employee can add vision and dental to the policy. Employees earn vacation and sick leave. Duty equipment and uniforms are provided except boots. Deputies work rotating 10-hour shifts including weekends and holidays. Deputies are required to conduct general patrol activities, criminal investigations, court security and detention. Deputies are also Deputy Coroners. Deputies must be able to work closely with the public. Deputies are required to submit reports in a timely manner. 
 
Qualifications: Must be a U.S. citizen, 18 years old, not be convicted of a crime for which a person could be imprisoned in a federal or state penitentiary, be of good moral character, as determined by a thorough background investigation, have a high school diploma or have been issued a high school equivalency diploma and possess or be eligible for a valid Montana driver’s license. Must be able to pass a physical, mental evaluation, Montana physical assessment test and the entry level public safety test. Must be POST certified applicants are preferred but not required. If an applicant is hired that is not POST certified, they will be required to complete the Montana Law Enforcement Academy within 1 year.

12 hr shifts, including both day and night shift, weekends and holidays.
